Imagine you are Alice, stepping through the looking glass. Suddenly everything is reversed. Doorknobs(球形门把手) are on the wrong side of doors. The gearshift in your car is in the wrong place.
Twenty-five million Americans wake up every day in just such an awkward situation. They are the one in ten of us who are left-handed and face the world designed for the right-handed majority.
Why we are left- or right-handed remains one of the great unsolved mysteries of science. We know that nearly two out of three lefties are male and that left-handedness runs in families. According to one study, almost half the offspring of two left-handed parents will be left-handed. The Scots-lrish family Kerr(from the Gaelic word for "left" ) produced so many left-handers that in 1470 the family built its castle' s spiral stairways with a reverse twist to favor left-handed swordsmen.
On the other hand, heredity alone cannot explain lefties. At least 84 percent of them are born of two right-handed parents. And in 12 percent of genetically identical twins, one will be right-handed, the other left.
Perhaps the greatest puzzle of all is not why some people are left-handed, but rather why so few are. So, scientists are trying to discover the truth of the matter, and they are beginning to gain insight into many ways left-handed differ from right-handed by considering how their brains work.
How many of the Americans are left-handers?

Part time education, that is,attending school at night or for one weekend a month, tends to drag the process out over time and put the completion of a degree program out of reach of many people.Additionally, such programs require a fixed time commitment which can also impact negatively on one’s career and family time.

Good distance learning programs are characterized by the inclusion of a subject evaluation tool with every subject.Another characteristic of a good distance learning program is the equivalence of the distance learning course with the same subject materials as those students taking the course on the home campus. The resultant diploma or degree should also be the same whether distance learning or on-campus study is employed. The individuality of the professor/student relationship is another characteristic. In the final analysis,a good distance learning program has a place not only for the individual student but also the corporation or business that wants to work in partnership with their employees for the educational benefit, professional development, and business growth of the organization.Sponsoring distance learning programs for their employees gives the business the advantage of retaining career. 根据下面材料,回答题:
"Equal pay for equal work" is a phrase used by the American women who feel that they are un-fairly treated by society. They say it is not right for women to be paid less than men for the same work. Some people say men have more duties than women. A married man is thought to earn money to support his family and to make the important decision, so it is right for them to be paid more. Some are even against married women working at all. When wives go out to work, they say, the home and children are given no attention to. (78) If women are encouraged by equal pay to take full-time jobs, they will be unable to do the things they are best at doing: making a nice home and bringing up children.
Women who disagree say they want to escape from the limited place which society wishes them to fill and to have freedom to choose between work and home life, or a mixture of the two. Women have the right not only to equal pay but also to equal chances.
The women use the phrase "equal pay for equal work" to ask society to__________.

B.give women harder work
C.pay men and women the same amount of money for the same work
D.pay people more who do harder work
