3 Chinese crewmen die from lack of oxygen while heading for Bangladesh
Three Chinese crewmen died from lack of oxygen when their cargo were heading for Bangladesh's southeastern port Chittagong on Saturday.
The cargo carrying 6,000 tons palm oil belongs to the Hongkong Universal Shipping Limited. The three victims are from Chinese mainland.
Ye Shengbing, who is representing the Hongkong company and dealing with the accident, told Xinhua by phone that the accident happened at 14:00 (Beijing time) on Saturday in Myanmar waters.
He said the three crewmen went into the cabin to remove the dirt water and were found dead. "It is thought they died from lack of oxygen," he said.www.examda.com
Ye said the cargo arrived at Chittagong, 264 km southeast of capital Dhaka, in the afternoon and the bodies of the three crewmen were sent to mortuary.
Ye said they had already informed the relatives of the victims.
Chinese Embassy to Bangladesh Political Counselor Wang Yu told Xinhua that they are assisting the relatives of the victims to go Bangladesh to deal with the accident.
